Charles River Creative Starts

Creative Starts StudentsAn immersive introduction to the arts for children ages 6 – 8.

Creative Starts provides an opportunity for children ages 6 – 8 to begin exploring and developing their artistic talents in an encouraging, stimulating environment. Each two-week session runs 9am – 4pm, Monday through Friday and features a unique theme, tying together inspiring projects across a wide spectrum of visual and performing arts. With a dedicated Creative Starts staff, space, and resources, budding artists will enjoy the nationally renowned CRCAP model, perfectly tailored to their age group.

Rather than preregistering for courses, students have the freedom to choose the activities that interest them throughout the session. We offer an age-appropriate balance of choice and structure to encourage experimentation, independence, and creative confidence.

Theme and Variation.
Creative Starts StudentOne arts-filled summer. Four unique themes. Eight weeks of limitless imagination.

Session Themes:

  • Long Ago and Far Away (Session A): How would you like to build a covered wagon? Draw a cowboy comic strip? Dance in a masquerade ball? Mummify a Barbie Doll? A world of possibilities awaits when you travel into history!
  • Myths and Magic (Session B): Sculpt a wizard's wand and say the magic words. Design a mythical creature and make it come to life. Transform into a Greek god with untold powers. Join us for a session packed with epic tales, conjuring and wonder.
  • Imagination Journey (Session C): Want to build a space ship? How about a pirate ship? Or a jungle ship? (What is a jungle ship anyway?) We'll be mapping out the sights, dreaming up the destinations and living out the adventures. Better pack your creative suitcases, because we are headed on the journey of a lifetime!
  • The Land of More Than Small (Session D): Discover what life would be like as a bug. Next, be a giant. We'll make gargantuan worlds in itty bitty boxes and build tiny trinkets larger than life. We'll dance like ants and sing like elephants in this session dedicated to the exploration of size!
